Gabriel Hafner (1995), is an industrial designer who graduated from ECAL, Lausanne, in 2022. He previously obtained a degree from the University of St. Gallen (CH). In 2022, he created his own studio, ranging from the realization of spaces and scenographies, to the design of objects and furniture. With a strong signature and a touch of irony, he uses everyday objects to think about society, function and our relationship to objects. Currently, Gabriel Hafner is responsible for the design and manufacture of furniture on the site of the new Mon-Gré chapel in Lausanne. He has participated in various exhibitions in Switzerland and France, among others, at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil-am-Rhein and at the Musée des Arts-décoratifs in Bordeaux (MADD). In April 2023, he exhibited at the International Fair of Milan. As an artist, Gabriel Hafner likes to appropriate industrial references and mass consumption, imitating corporate entities and established frameworks in order to disarm objects of their loaded symbolism and to highlight their underlying purpose.
